Urgent Appeal for Help
A Journey of Survival and Desperation
My name is Ehsan Ahmed Adam, and I am a Christian.
I was born and raised in Sudan within a deeply conservative Muslim society where women are treated as property and denied their basic rights under the guise of religion, customs, and traditions. In this environment, women who violate these oppressive norms may face severe punishment, including violence and even death, all in the name of so-called “honor” and religion.
My life took a devastating turn when I fell in love with and married a Christian man from South Sudan. This decision, rooted in love, led to extreme consequences. My family completely rejected me, and I was subjected to severe punishment: I was beaten, confined to my home, and isolated from the outside world simply because I chose to marry the man I love.
In desperation, my husband Deng and I fled together, embarking on a perilous journey in search of safety. We were relentlessly pursued by security forces and narrowly escaped arrest and death. By a miracle, we managed to reach South Sudan. However, our suffering did not end there. Attempts to forcibly return me to Sudan continued, and on several occasions, I narrowly escaped arrest and deportation.

In an effort to protect myself from forced return, I went public with our story. Instead of safety, this exposed us to further danger. Public religious fatwas were issued against us, first and foremost by my own father, Ahmed Adam Abdallah Mahmoud, from Al-Jazirah State in Sudan. The Fatwa went viral worldwide via YouTube and other social media. Our marriage was denied recognition in Sudan, and we were treated as criminals rather than victims. We faced constant threats, harassment, and violence.

As the situation became increasingly dangerous, we fled Juba, South Sudan, and sought refuge in Uganda. Despite ongoing pressure to return to Sudan and abandon my husband, I refused. This refusal led to an attempt on my husband’s life. I was seriously injured but survived the assassination attempt.
Our journey later brought us to Nairobi, Kenya, where we hoped to rebuild our lives in safety. Unfortunately, our situation has continued to deteriorate. We are living in hiding around the capital, constantly fearing for our lives. Despite being registered refugees with valid refugee IDs, UNHCR Kenya and its implementing partners have denied us urban refugee support, leaving us without protection or assistance. As a result, we face severe financial hardship—our rent is overdue, and we often lack food due to discrimination and exclusion.
My mother is unable to support me, as she herself was forced to flee our fundamentalist and violent father with my siblings to another country.

At one point, based on an international outcry and our efforts to seek protection, UNHCR Kenya temporarily placed us in a safehouse, managed by the NGO HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, a Jewish organization founded in 1881 in New York City to assist Jewish immigrants fleeing persecution), but our time there was a nightmare, since we are not Jewish. The safehouse was far from safe, and the situation became so horrific that I lost my unborn child due to the stress, the traumata and even physical assault we endured there. The police were involved, but no justice has been served to date.
We now live in constant fear and isolation, with no stable future. Our remaining hope lies in the resettlement process. An Italian church-based organization, Sant’Egidio, accepted our case for resettlement to a third country two years ago. We remain eligible for resettlement, but despite the passage of time, no concrete steps have yet been taken, leaving us in prolonged uncertainty and danger. Their excuse is that Italy allegedly created problems.

UNHCR had promised us resettlement to the USA, but everyone knows what happened under President Trump in his second term and to this day, no durable solution has been implemented. What we don’t understand is, why President Trump and Elon Musk can invite white, South-African Afrikaaner Christians, bomb with Millions of Dollars Anti-Christian Islamic rebels in Nigeria but at the same time blocks Christians fleeing from Sudan. I am not the only one. Human rights defenders clearly state that the Christian churches have completely abandoned any help for Converts and persecuted Christians. It seems to be true that even the Pope turned hid cold shoulder to the needs and rather marches for a globalist religion of One than to protect his Catholic flock. Meanwhile we remain trapped in a cycle of insecurity and waiting.
We have a young son who deserves a life free from fear, violence, and persecution. Yet we live without reliable access to food, shelter, or medical care. Every day is a struggle for survival, overshadowed by constant threats and fear of death.
Our situation is urgent and critical. We need immediate support to secure our safety and dignity. We urgently need assistance to survive, to remain hidden from danger, and to protect our lives from ongoing threats, religious persecution, and violence.
We are deeply grateful to PUGNA MALUM Sntl. for their great support and CW.Center for helping share my story. We hold onto hope that this will change our fate.
We, please, we ask also you, the readers, for your compassion and support. Your help is not merely assistance—it is our only chance for survival and for a future free from fear. We want to be able again to show our smiles and faces open again and not hide for being haunted.
Thank you all !
With Hope and Love,
Ehsan Ahmed Adam
